Isosorbide Dicaprylate

INCI
Isosorbide Dicaprylate

Obtaining: It is a bio-based ester obtained by esterifying isosorbide (a sugar derivative, usually from sorbitol) with caprylic acid (C8, sourced from vegetable origins according to the supplier). The result is a lightweight emollient, highly stable with excellent sensory performance.

Benefits: It acts as a dry-touch emollient with a ""silk effect"": it enhances the spreadability of the formula, leaves the skin soft and supple, and provides a more satin finish without a greasy feel. It is widely used to give a more cosmetic sensory experience in creams, oils, serums, and especially in sunscreens, where it helps the product spread better and feel less heavy. Additionally, it can function as a carrier for liposoluble ingredients, contributing to a more uniform and pleasant application.
