Pacific Ocean Moisturising Gel

WATER

Extraction:  water is an element present in most cosmetic products and is the most important raw material. In the cosmetics industry, purified water is used in a process to eliminate any solid particle that may contain water in order to achieve a higher degree of purity and quality.

Benefits: water helps to cleanse the body. Hydrates and improves the effect of other active ingredients, provides softness and delays premature aging of the skin.

VEGETABLE GLYCERIN

Extraction: it is harvested from plants (soy or coconut oil for example) by hydrolysis of fats and by fermenting sugars. Glycerol is found naturally in skin and is considered a self-healing compound.

Benefits: it is one of the many substances in the skin that helps maintain the outer barrier and prevents dryness and peeling. It leaves skin feeling nourished and works to treat acne. It also prevents the accumulation of fat and improves the appearance of hair. Vegetable glycerin can be used as a diluent and as an alcohol substitute when preparing herbal extracts.

PENTYLENE GLYCOL

Extraction: natural pentylene glycol is obtained from renewable plant-based sources such as sugar cane or maize.

Benefits: commonly used in moisturising creams and lotions for its hydrating properties, which help retain moisture in the skin. It also has antibacterial and preservative effects, helping other active ingredients act better on the skin.

GUM ARABIC

Extraction: Acacia Senegal is a tree originally from sub-Saharan Africa, Pakistan and India. It produces a gum known as gum arabic, widely used in food as a texturiser, or in medicine and pharmacy for intestinal and skin inflammation treatments.

Benefits: in cosmetics, acacia gum is used as a thickener because of its texture, which forms a gel in contact with water and a film in contact with air. 

MALACHITE

Extraction: this extract is obtained from natural malachite, a mineral with numerous associated health benefits. This is a purified extract.

Benefits: this purified extract is taken from malachite rock. It is rich in copper and offers powerful protection against superoxide radicals. Copper is an element necessary for the human body and plays a fundamental role in preventing cell aging. Copper deficiency produces a greater oxidation of lipids and cells and increase the risk of cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE

Extraction: this stable form of the enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) is obtained via plant bio-fermentation processes.

Benefits: superoxide anion is the most reactive and harmful free radical for the cells of the human body. The SOD enzyme is the body’s natural defense for fighting the damage caused by free radicals. Studies have shown that the SOD enzyme helps to reduce almost 100% of inflammation caused by UVB rays.

STEVIA

Extraction: from organic stevia leaf extract obtained by using ecological botanical extraction technology.

Benefits: This extract has a similar mechanism to that of retinoids and minimises the appearance of wrinkles for a younger looking skin in a smoother way (without side effects). It enhances a greater expression of genes involved in skin regeneration, stimulates dermis protein synthesis for a rejuvenating effect, promotes a better skin response against oxidative stress and reduces inflammation.

HYALURONIC ACID

Extraction: organic hyaluronic acid of vegetable origin. It is found naturally in the skin so the application of this acid will not irritate or damage it.

Extraction: from Marshmallow root extract. This ingredient is rich in polysaccharides (glucan, arabinogalactans) and it's made through an ecological and biotechnological process to extract highly biocompatible molecules.  

Benefits: It's non-polluting active ingredient to deal with exposome. It creates a protective biomechanical shield against external agents preventing the adhesion of fine particles. It helps to remove contaminants from the surface of the skin. Extraction: Hydrocolloid compound mainly made of galactans extracted from red algae. These algae grow along the rocky parts of the Atlantic Coast of Europe. In their habitat, these algae are soft and they're made of cartilage.

In addition, this film-forming effect constitutes a shield against dehydration. COMMON LILAC

Extraction: from Syringa vulgaris, known as common lilac, which is a deciduous shrub of the Oleaceae family. It is native to southeastern Europe, but currently grows spontaneously throughout the continent.

ALGA ROJA LITHOTHAMNION CALCAREUM

Obtención: Se extrae de una alga roja de la familia coralina muy utilizada en cosmética, alimentación y medicina natural por ser una fuente importante de calcio. Extraction: natural polysaccharide of high natural weight derived from the fermentation of carbohydrates such as glucose or corn syrup.

Benefits: it is used as a binder, emulsion stabilizer and skin conditioning agent in a wide variety of cosmetics and personal care products. 1% of xanthan gum is used for cosmetic formulations.

AMYLOPECTIN

Extraction: Amylopectin is a naturally branched biopolymer (polysaccharide), present in the starch of most green plants.

Benefits: It has the ability to form a hydrating hydrocolloidal matrix, with the possibility of including active ingredients inside to release them sequentially.

NATURAL PERFUME, PACIFIC OCEAN

MALTODEXTRINA

Obtainment: His sugar is obtained from starch, derived from rice, corn or potato.

Benefits: It has the ability to stabilise cosmetic formulations as well as act as a link between different ingredients. It also acts as a suspension forming agent and film former.

LEVULINIC ACID

Extraction: Levulinic Acid is a 100% natural preservative obtained from the degradation of cellulose.

Benefits: it is a mild preservative that control colonies of microorganisms without altering the integrity, colour or pH of the other ingredients included in the product. It has very good antibacterial properties.

SODIUM LEVULINATE

Extraction: Sodium Levulinate is a 100% natural preservative obtained from starch and vegetal inulin.

Benefits: It is a gentle preservative proved to be able to control microorganism colonies without altering the integrity, colour or pH of other ingredients included in the final product. It is especially used in the preservation of fresh ingredients.

SODIUM PHYTATE

Extraction: sodium salt from phytic acid, a vegetable compound found in corn.

Benefits: it is used in cosmetic products as a chelating agent to prevent the heavy metals.

P-ANISIC ACID

Obtainment: This ingredient is found naturally in the anise, an herb of the Apiaceae family native to South-West Asia and the eastern Mediterranean basin, and therefore, it is 100% plant-based.

Benefits: It is an innovative natural preservative, acts as a flavouring agent, preservative and and masks unpleasant odours.

LACTIC ACID

Extraction: lactic acid is used to balance the pH of cosmetic products.

Benefits: this ingredient allows cosmetics to be milder for skin and hair.

SODIUM HYDROXIDE

Extraction: It is a solid white substance with an alkaline pH, which is obtained from common salt (Sodium Chloride)

Benefits: It's pH regulator used to raise acidic pH to a level suitable for the skin. Higher (alkaline) or lower (acidic) pH, will damage the skin's protective mechanism by exposing it to harmful bacteria and the environment. Therefore, maintaining the pH of a product is very important for skin health.

SODIUM BENZOATE

Extraction: benzoic acid salt that is naturally found in blueberries, prunes, cinnamon and apple.

Benefits: it is used as a cosmetic preservative to prevent the growth and proliferation of fungi and bacteria in the products. 

POTASSIUM SORBATE

Extraction: is the potassium salt of sorbic acid that occurs naturally in mountain berries (Sorbus aucuparia).

Benefits: acts as a preservative, protecting cosmetics from deterioration by preventing or delaying the growth and reproduction of microorganisms. This compound is easily metabolized by the body and produces water and CO2, therefore it is completely harmless.

CITRIC ACID

Extraction: citric acid is a weak organic acid found in fruits such as lemons and oranges. Lemon juice contains approximately 5-8% citric acid.

Benefits: citric acid and its salts: Diammonium, Potassium and Sodium help to preserve cosmetics since they are metal chelating agents. Citric acid and its salts are also added to cosmetics to help regulate the acid / base levels. Functions as a powerful antioxidant and helps to regulate and maintain skin’s hydration and elasticity.

MACLURA FLAVONOIDS

Sourcing: Cockspur thorn leaf prenylflavonoids are in fact sourced from the leaves of the Maclura cochinchinensis plant. Generally, it grows in the forests of Southeast Asia, but it’s also widespread in Northern Australia and East Africa. It’s a branched, thorny shrub.

Benefits: It’s a natural sebum-regulating active, with benefits such as preventing the formation of comedones and acne vulgaris. It delivers an even skin tone and skin that’s less oily.
