Benefits: water helps to cleanse the body. Hydrates and improves the effect of other active ingredients, provides softness and delays premature aging of the skin.
VEGETABLE GLYCERIN
Extraction: it is harvested from plants (soy or coconut oil for example) by hydrolysis of fats and by fermenting sugars. Glycerol is found naturally in skin and is considered a self-healing compound.
Benefits: it is one of the many substances in the skin that helps maintain the outer barrier and prevents dryness and peeling. It leaves skin feeling nourished and works to treat acne. It also prevents the accumulation of fat and improves the appearance of hair. Vegetable glycerin can be used as a diluent and as an alcohol substitute when preparing herbal extracts.
PROPANEDIOL
Extraction: 100% natural ingredient obtained from sugarcane and approved by Ecocert. It is biodegradable, making it the perfect natural alternative to petroleum glycols.
Benefits: it is used in cosmetics as a moisturizing agent, solvent and emollient. Its sensory properties help reduce skin irritations. They also control viscosity.

HOW DOES IT DIFFERENTIATE FROM BAKUCHIOL WELL-AGEING SERUM? CAN I COMBINE THEM?
Both products focus on reducing wrinkles and expression lines, but their main difference lies in the mode of use and the potency of their active ingredients.
We recommend:
- Retinal serum for people more experienced in cosmetics, as, although it is an active ingredient that provides faster results than Bakuchiol, it requires a skin retinisation process and a more strict mode of use. It can only be applied at night, and in the morning sunscreen must be used.
- That's why Bakuchiol is a great alternative for people who cannot use retinoids, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, but at the same time want to continue benefiting from the well-ageing effects. Also, Bakuchiol can be used as a step of adaptation before moving on to Retinal, reducing the skin retinisation process.
Another highly recommended option is the combination of both. As Retinal must be used only at night, Bakuchiol is an ideal complement for the morning routine, before sunscreen, for a super complete well-ageing routine.
HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM VITAMIN C CONCENTRATE SERUM? CAN I COMBINE THEM?
On one hand, the Vitamin C Concentrate Serum contains Vitamin C, an active that provides luminosity and an antioxidant effect on the skin and can be applied morning and night, while the Bioretinal Night Serum contains Retinal, a form of Vitamin A that helps to reduce wrinkles and provide firmness to the skin and would be applied only at night.
To know if Retinal can be combined with a Vitamin C serum, we have to look at its pH. If it is low, it can reduce the effects of Retinal, but in the case of our Vitamin C Concentrate Serum, it is formulated at a similar pH, so they could be combined without inconvenience.
WHAT ACTIVE INGREDIENTS SHOULD NOT BE COMBINED WITH RETINAL?
- AHA, BHA acids: Due to the exfoliation generated by both active ingredients, it may be too much for the skin and over-exfoliate it, so they can be alternated at night. This would be the case with Blue Radiance.
- Azelaic acid: avoid combination with Azelaic Radiance in the same routine, as it may cause irritation. In case of wanting to use both products, it is better to use Retinal at night and Azelaic in the morning, always accompanied by sunscreen.
On the other hand, it can be combined with Niacinamide or Vitamin C (as long as they have a similar pH).
HOW DO I INTRODUCE IT INTO MY NIGHT ROUTINE?
Retinal would be the first step of the night routine, after cleansing. Our recommendation is to use it in a simple routine, combining cleansing (with Rose Quartz or Salicylic Facial Cleanser), the Bioretinal Night Serum, and finally, hydration (with Omega Rich, for example).
IS IT PHOTOSENSITISING?
Retinal is a photosensitive ingredient, which means it loses effectiveness with sunlight (that's why its container is tinted). In addition, it is a photosensitising active ingredient, which means it can cause a reaction in the skin when exposed to the sun, so it is important to always apply sunscreen the next morning after using it.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN RETINAL AND RETINOL?
To understand the difference between retinal and retinol, it is important to pay attention to the cycle that Vitamin A follows in our skin. When the body is ready to metabolise it, it turns into
retinol and then into retinaldehyde before finally becoming retinoic acid, which is the active form in which Vitamin A is used by the skin.
This means that when retinal and retinol are applied to the skin in cosmetic products, they will join the vitamin A cycle. Retinol must be converted to retinal and then to retinoic acid, while retinal will have to be converted to retinoic acid. This is why retinal is able to deliver such fast results.
